How to prevent dry lips

Our lips have no glands to help keep them moisturised so they tend to become dry and chapped very quickly. Many different things can dry our lips out; weather, air conditioning, heating and even some of the beauty products that we use.

But fortunately there are ways for you to make your lips look and feel soft and prevent dry lips.

Be sure to drink plenty of water. One of the best ways of keeping your lips soft and well hydrated is from the inside. When our bodies do not get enough water, the water is directed away from places like the skin and the lips and it is directed towards places like the vital organs. This is because the body panics and it thinks that it will not get any more water so it re directs the water to the places that are vital for keeping the body functioning.

Keeping your body well hydrated will mean that the body will direct water to the skin and the lips.

Millions of people all over the world use petroleum jelly on their lips everyday. But this is not a good idea because this creates a barrier between your lips and the atmosphere. Your lips then come to rely on the petroleum jelly and you will need to use more and more in order for it to have the same effect.

Lip glosses contain ingredients that moisturise lips and add shine, try wearing a small amount of lipgloss everyday, it will also help to protect your lips from the elements by creating a barrier.

Cut down on your salt intake. Salt is the biggest culprit for dehydrating any part of the body. Whitening toothpastes are also prime suspects for drying out lips, the bicarbonate of soda is too harsh for many peoples lips.

Avoid long lasting lipsticks. These remove all of the moisture from your lips so that the lipstick can adhere to your lips properly. They will leave your lips incredibly dry and chapped.

Turn your heating down. Central heating is also notorious for drying out lips.

Many people believe that menthol is good for the skin. But is incredibly drying for the lips. Avoid lip balms with menthol in them and look for ones that contain ingredients such as shea butter, cocoa butter or vitamin E.

How to get rid of stretchmarks

Stretch marks are one of the most common skin complaints of women all over the world. They occur when the skin tissues stretch too rapidly for the skin to be able to compensate.

A fresh stretch mark is normally red and/or a purple/blue colour, but they eventually fade to approximately two shades lighter than your normal skin tone.

Stretch marks are most commonly associated with pregnancy, but they can occur after weight gain or loss, muscle growth, puberty and even injury.

However, once you have stretch marks, all is not lost. There are many things that can be done to significantly improve the look of your skin.

Moisturise.

The key to healthy skin is moisture. It helps skin to retain its elasticity. This means that when you do become pregnant or gain weight. Your skin will be able to cope with the stretching and it will not split. This is one of the best ways to prevent and eliminate stretch marks.

Cocoa butter is the best product for the prevention of stretch marks. This is the solid butter, not the lotion. The lotions work well, but not nearly as well as the butter. If you are pregnant or losing weight, apply this over your whole body at least once a day. It helps to prevent them and reduce them.

Vitamin E.

This is a vitamin that is absolutely essential for skin health. It helps to keep the skin well hydrated and properly lubricated. And without this hydration and lubrication the skin will become dry and prone to splitting.

You can take vitamin E in pill form or you can apply the oil directly to the skin. Applying the oil to skin has been found to significantly reduce the appearance of stretch marks over time.

Scar serums.

Since a stretch marks is a scar, a scar serum can fade them. However, you need to be careful about which one you choose. There are many scar serums available but you need to know which ingredients to look for in order to choose the most effective one.

The best scar serums will contain a high concentration of vitamin E. Vitamin E is renowned for its scar reducing properties. It will also contain shark liver oil. This has proven to be an incredibly effective treatment in the reduction of scars. They are normally very thick and sticky. So you will need to apply a small amount and allow it to soak in before you get dressed.

How to attach false eyelashes

The most important thing to remember when applying false eyelashes is that you must apply them before you apply the rest of your make-up. The false eyelashes need a clean base to adhere to. The best thing to do is clean your eyelids with non oil based make-up remover before you apply your eyelashes. Do not use an oil based make-up remover as the oil will interfere with the eyelash glue. You can easily apply the rest of your make-up afterwards.

lace the false lashes on top of your own eyelashes without glue to give you an idea of where they should be. Trim them to fit, it looks terrible when you see people with overhanging false eyelashes.

The next thing that you will need to do is apply a thin layer of clue to the base of your lashes. You can do this with the glue that has been provided with the lashes. Alternatively you can use a different type of eyelash glue. If possible try to find a false eyelash glue with a brush applicator. The brush will make the application process of the eyelashes much easier.

Try to keep as close to the base of your lashes as possible. Apply slightly more glue to the sides of the eye because this is often the place that will come unstuck.

To apply the lashes you need to start from the inner corner of the lashes and keep as close as possible to your natural lashes, do not attempt to put them on in one go, you need to start at the inner corner and gently work your way to the outer corner.

Tap the lashes into place using the glue tube. Do not use your fingers as these are more likely to adhere and you will end up with your finger glued to your eyelid.

Finish with a line of eyeliner to help hide the false lash line and a coat of mascara to style them for a natural look.
